Brewing Guide

Great coffee starts with the right ratio. For the best flavor, use 10 grams of coffee for every 180 ml (6 oz) of water (approximately a 1:18 coffee-to-water ratio). Brew with filtered water heated to 200–205°F (93–96°C) for optimal extraction.

Pour Over

The pour-over method produces a clean, bright cup that highlights the coffee's natural flavors.

What You'll Need

  • Paper filter and dripper
  • Freshly heated water (200–205°F)
  • Scale (recommended)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the paper filter with hot water and discard the rinse water.
  2. Add ground coffee to the filter (22g coffee for approximately 330ml water).
  3. Slowly pour about 60g of water over the grounds and allow them to bloom for 30–45 seconds.
  4. Continue pouring the remaining water in slow, circular motions.
  5. Total brew time should be 3–4 minutes.

French Press

French Press brewing creates a rich, full-bodied cup with a smooth finish.

Instructions

  1. Add the desired amount of ground coffee to the French press.
  2. Pour hot water over the grounds until fully saturated.
  3. Place the lid on the press without plunging.
  4. Let the coffee steep for 4 minutes.
  5. Slowly press the plunger down and serve immediately to avoid over-extraction.

Coffee Cupping

Cupping is the industry-standard method for evaluating coffee aroma, body, balance, and flavor.

Instructions

  1. Add 10 grams of coffee to a cupping bowl or glass.
  2. Pour 180 grams of water at 200°F directly over the grounds.
  3. Allow the coffee to steep undisturbed for 4 minutes.
  4. Using the back of a spoon, gently break the crust while enjoying the aroma released.
  5. Skim away any remaining foam.
  6. Let the coffee cool slightly, then taste by slurping from a spoon to fully aerate the coffee across your palate.

Brew Better Tips

  • Use filtered water whenever possible.
  • Measure your coffee and water for consistent results.
  • Store coffee in a cool, dry place away from light and moisture.
  • Brew only what you'll enjoy fresh for the best flavor.

Small adjustments to grind size, brew time, and coffee-to-water ratio can help you fine-tune each cup to match your personal taste.
